The Galilean School of Higher Education was founded as a School of excellence in a joint venture between the University of Padua and the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa. Its five-year courses are open to students from all the Faculties at the University of Padua and encompass a three-year degree and a two-year higher degree. The School also invites internationally-renowned lecturers to hold extra-curricula seminars and courses; furthermore it provides students with professors and tutors who give specific training and guidance. The Galilean School of Higher Education is a unique opportunity open to twenty-four students who are selected on the basis of a tough entrance examination.
Successful applicants are introduced to a world of cultural stimuli as well as to opportunities for both intellectual and personal improvement. The Galileani are enrolled in regular University courses and are given free accommodation at the Collegio Morgagni (). In exchange, they are required to obtain excellent marks in their exams and to pursue the vast range of educational opportunities the School makes available. Relations with the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa include student and professor exchange schemes, which give students a comprehensive insight into the great tradition of education and science vaunted by these two seats of learning.
